Norwegian Krone to Bhutanese Ngultrum

The Norwegian krone (symbol: kr, code: NOK, number 578) is the national currency of Norway, valid in the country since 1874 to have replaced the Norwegian daler. Although nominally the krone is subdivided into 100 ore, coins denominations of less than 1 crone have been discontinued, and ore has existed only electronically since 2012. The banknotes design bears traditional Scandinavian decorations depicting ships, lighthouses, sea waves, cod.

The exchange rate varies depending on oil prices and other economic factors. The average inflation index is low,e.g. in autumn 2019 it was only 1.8%. During 2017 - 2019, all old banknotes were replaced in the country. They can be exchanged in banks until 2028.

The Bhutanese ngultrum (sign Nu, code BTN) serves as the national currency of the Kingdom in Eastern Asia – Bhutan. It is used along with the Indian rupee. Chhertum is used as change for the Bhutanese ngultrum.

Every BTN has 100 chhertum. The currency has been in circulation since 1974. Before that, only rupees had been used in the country. Occasionally, Bhutan issues commemorative banknotes with unique themes. At one point, there were printed banknotes with scenes from a royal wedding, with mythical angels, and with lotuses – traditional symbols of Asia.
