The Norwegian krone (symbol: kr, code: NOK, number 578) is the national currency of Norway, valid in the country since 1874 to have replaced the Norwegian daler. Locally the money is called "kiwi" to commemorate the famous flying bird which is depicted on $1 notes.

It was officially introduced in 1967 to replace the pound. Since 1999 durable polymer fibers are used in production of banknotes.
