The Norwegian krone (symbol: kr, code: NOK, number 578) is the national currency of Norway, valid in the country since 1874 to have replaced the Norwegian daler. The currency was introduced in 1966 to replace the Australian pound. Traditionally, coins and some banknotes depict portraits of the queen Elizabeth II as well as representatives of the fauna of the continent and famous people.
