Pakistani Rupee to Afghan afghani

The Pakistani rupee (sign ₨, code PKR) is the official currency of Pakistan. The Pakistani rupee could be changed with 100 pice. However, the production of coins ceased due to inflation.

It was issued in 1948 after a monetary reform which had removed the Indian rupee from the territory of Pakistan. The Indian currency had still been used for payment up until 1966. Portraits of cultural and political figures of the country are used to decorate the notes. The banknotes are stylized in natural hues: green, olive green and brown.

Afghani (sign ؋, code AFN) is the currency of Afghanistan which is not used for payment in other countries. One afghani equals 100 pul coins. Afghani has been issued since 1926.

Originally, coins made only out of silver were used on the territory of the Islamic state. First notes were printed in 1935. The Afghan rupee had been used hand in hand with afghani until 1978. Up until 2002, there had been different types of afghani used in the country and issued by different military and political organizations: “davlati” and “dostumi”, but the new leader, Hamid Karzai, reformed the currency leaving only one type. Banknotes had architectural monuments, key industries and infrastructure depicted on them.
