Bulgarian Lev to Papua New Guinean Kina

The Bulgarian lev (international symbol: BNG, code: 975) is the national currency of Bulgaria. The lev is divided into 100 stotinki. Since 2002 the lev has been pegged to the euro at an exchange rate of 1.

The image of a lion on Bulgarian currency appeared in the 13th century. The first currency, called the “lion,” emerged in Bulgaria in 1879 and was in circulation in the country until 1952. The kina (sign К, code PGK) is the currency of a state in Oceania – Papua New Guinea. The currency is not accepted for payment outside the country. One kina is subdivided into 100 smaller coins called toea.

The currency has become official in 1975. Before that, the country had a foreign currency, which was the Australian dollar. The appearance of the currency was connected to the fact that Papua New Guinea gained independence. At first, the Australian dollar also participated in payment operations, but in 1976, it was completely eliminated.
