Bulgarian Lev to Croatian Kuna

The Bulgarian lev (international symbol: BNG, code: 975) is the national currency of Bulgaria. The lev is divided into 100 stotinki. Since 2002 the lev has been pegged to the euro at an exchange rate of 1.

The image of a lion on Bulgarian currency appeared in the 13th century. The first currency, called the “lion,” emerged in Bulgaria in 1879 and was in circulation in the country until 1952. The Croatian Kuna (symbol: kn, codes: HKR and 191) is the official currency of Croatia, which existed from 1941 through 1945,and was revived in 1994. The name is given in honor of marten pelts, which in the old times was a means of payment. The new Banknotes completely replaced the Croatian dinar by 1995.

Kuna is subdivided into 100 lipa. Banknotes bear images depicting palaces, fortresses, portraits of historical figures of the country. Although the country has joined the EU since 2013, the transition to the euro has not yet taken place. The authorities of Croatia are considering the issue of joining the Eurozone.
