Afghan afghani to Turkish Lira

Afghani (sign ؋, code AFN) is the currency of Afghanistan which is not used for payment in other countries. One afghani equals 100 pul coins. Afghani has been issued since 1926.

Originally, coins made only out of silver were used on the territory of the Islamic state. First notes were printed in 1935. The Afghan rupee had been used hand in hand with afghani until 1978. Up until 2002, there had been different types of afghani used in the country and issued by different military and political organizations: “davlati” and “dostumi”, but the new leader, Hamid Karzai, reformed the currency leaving only one type. Banknotes had architectural monuments, key industries and infrastructure depicted on them.

The Turkish lira (symbols: ₤, TL, codes: TRY and 949) is the national currency of Turkey, was introduced in 1923. The new money replaced the Ottoman liras after the monetary reform carried out by Ataturk. The lira is subdivided into 100 kurushas.

After the denomination in 2005 the New Turkish Lira is equal to 1 million Old LIra. The bills depict historians, architects, writers, musicians, and other famous historical figures, as well as monuments of architecture of different epochs.
