Afghan afghani to Thailand Baht

Afghani (sign ؋, code AFN) is the currency of Afghanistan which is not used for payment in other countries. One afghani equals 100 pul coins. Afghani has been issued since 1926.

Originally, coins made only out of silver were used on the territory of the Islamic state. First notes were printed in 1935. The Afghan rupee had been used hand in hand with afghani until 1978. Up until 2002, there had been different types of afghani used in the country and issued by different military and political organizations: “davlati” and “dostumi”, but the new leader, Hamid Karzai, reformed the currency leaving only one type. Banknotes had architectural monuments, key industries and infrastructure depicted on them.

The Thai baht (sign: ฿, code: THB, number:764) is the official currency of Thailand issued by the National Bank since 1928. The name itself has been used since 1928. One baht is subdivided into 100 satangs.

The currency has replaced Siamese tikal, although the name "baht" was used in the country even back in the Middle Ages. The word "tikal" is still used in everyday life referring to local money. The new banknotes depict the King of Thailand to demonstrate the country's special attitude towards the monarch.
