Afghan afghani to Kazakhstani Tenge

Afghani (sign ؋, code AFN) is the currency of Afghanistan which is not used for payment in other countries. One afghani equals 100 pul coins. Afghani has been issued since 1926.

Originally, coins made only out of silver were used on the territory of the Islamic state. First notes were printed in 1935. The Afghan rupee had been used hand in hand with afghani until 1978. Up until 2002, there had been different types of afghani used in the country and issued by different military and political organizations: “davlati” and “dostumi”, but the new leader, Hamid Karzai, reformed the currency leaving only one type. Banknotes had architectural monuments, key industries and infrastructure depicted on them.

The Kazakhstani tenge (sign ₸, code KZT) is the main currency of Kazakhstan, issued and used only within this Asian state. Tiyns are used as change for the Kazakhstani tenge. Every KZT has 100 tiyns.

The currency has been issued since 1993. It appeared after the dissolution of the USSR, taking the place of the Soviet ruble. Initially, Kazakhstan did not have its own treasury. Banknotes were printed in Great Britain. German specialists were engaged in minting. Some time later, the country has begun to issue the money on its own.
