Afghan afghani to Jersey Pound

Afghani (sign ؋, code AFN) is the currency of Afghanistan which is not used for payment in other countries. One afghani equals 100 pul coins. Afghani has been issued since 1926.

Originally, coins made only out of silver were used on the territory of the Islamic state. First notes were printed in 1935. The Afghan rupee had been used hand in hand with afghani until 1978. Up until 2002, there had been different types of afghani used in the country and issued by different military and political organizations: “davlati” and “dostumi”, but the new leader, Hamid Karzai, reformed the currency leaving only one type. Banknotes had architectural monuments, key industries and infrastructure depicted on them.

The Kersey pound (sign £, code JEP) is a currency used on the territory of the Jersey Island. It circulates along with the pound sterling. Pence (pennies) are used as change for the Jersey pound.

Every JEP has 100 pennies. The currency was introduced in 1837, taking place of the outdated French livre. The official languages of the island are English and French. Notes and coins demonstrate two denominations simultaneously. One of them correlates with the pound, the other one – with the livre.
