Afghan afghani to Egyptian Pound

Afghani (sign ؋, code AFN) is the currency of Afghanistan which is not used for payment in other countries. One afghani equals 100 pul coins. Afghani has been issued since 1926.

Originally, coins made only out of silver were used on the territory of the Islamic state. First notes were printed in 1935. The Afghan rupee had been used hand in hand with afghani until 1978. Up until 2002, there had been different types of afghani used in the country and issued by different military and political organizations: “davlati” and “dostumi”, but the new leader, Hamid Karzai, reformed the currency leaving only one type. Banknotes had architectural monuments, key industries and infrastructure depicted on them.

The Egyptian pound (sign LE, code EGP) is the currency of Egypt. It can also be referred to as the livre or guinea as in outdated terms. The Egyptian pound can be subdivided into 100 small coins named piastres.

The currency has been introduced into circulation in 1885. The design of notes and coins was reconsidered several times, the currency’s level of protection has increased. Almost every banknote of the Egyptian pound features key mosques of the country. It serves as a reminder that Egypt is a Muslim state.
