Afghan afghani to Canadian Dollar

Afghani (sign ؋, code AFN) is the currency of Afghanistan which is not used for payment in other countries. One afghani equals 100 pul coins. Afghani has been issued since 1926.

Originally, coins made only out of silver were used on the territory of the Islamic state. First notes were printed in 1935. The Afghan rupee had been used hand in hand with afghani until 1978. Up until 2002, there had been different types of afghani used in the country and issued by different military and political organizations: “davlati” and “dostumi”, but the new leader, Hamid Karzai, reformed the currency leaving only one type. Banknotes had architectural monuments, key industries and infrastructure depicted on them.

The Canadian dollar (symbol: CA$, code: CAD, number 124) is Canada's monetary unit since 1858. It is subdivided into 100 cents. The Canadian currency is among the most traded on the world currency market.

The CAD exchange rate largely depends on the state of the economy of the neighboring United States and the changing position of the US dollar. Although several generations of dollars have already been produced in the country, old issues are still accepted. All banknotes printed after 1935 remain legal tender.
