Falkland Island Pound to Afghan afghani

The Falkland Islands pound (sign FK£, code FKP) is the national currency of a sovereign territory of Great Britain. It is used along with the pound sterling. Originally, FKP was subdivided into 20 shillings, and later into 100 pence.

Today, every FKP can be subdivided into 100 pence. Coins are also called pennies as a term of endearment. The currency appeared in 1899. Since then, the design of coins and banknotes has gone through several changes. At the moment, the rate of the Falkland Islands pound is tightly connected to fluctuations of the pound sterling.

Afghani (sign ؋, code AFN) is the currency of Afghanistan which is not used for payment in other countries. One afghani equals 100 pul coins. Afghani has been issued since 1926.

Originally, coins made only out of silver were used on the territory of the Islamic state. First notes were printed in 1935. The Afghan rupee had been used hand in hand with afghani until 1978. Up until 2002, there had been different types of afghani used in the country and issued by different military and political organizations: “davlati” and “dostumi”, but the new leader, Hamid Karzai, reformed the currency leaving only one type. Banknotes had architectural monuments, key industries and infrastructure depicted on them.
