Australian Dollar to Afghan afghani

The Australian dollar (symbol: $ ,code: AUD, number 036) is used in Australia, as well as on the Islands of Norfolk, Christmas Island, the Cocos Islands, in Nauru, Tuvalu and Kiribati. It is subdivided into 100 cents. $/A$/AU$ and other abbreviations are used.

The currency was introduced in 1966 to replace the Australian pound. Traditionally, coins and some banknotes depict portraits of the queen Elizabeth II as well as representatives of the fauna of the continent and famous people.

Afghani (sign ؋, code AFN) is the currency of Afghanistan which is not used for payment in other countries. One afghani equals 100 pul coins. Afghani has been issued since 1926.

Originally, coins made only out of silver were used on the territory of the Islamic state. First notes were printed in 1935. The Afghan rupee had been used hand in hand with afghani until 1978. Up until 2002, there had been different types of afghani used in the country and issued by different military and political organizations: “davlati” and “dostumi”, but the new leader, Hamid Karzai, reformed the currency leaving only one type. Banknotes had architectural monuments, key industries and infrastructure depicted on them.
