East Caribbean Dollar to Ghanaian Cedi

The Eastern Caribbean dollar (sign $, code XCD) is a currency circulating on the territory of 7 countries that are part of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States. The currency is accepted in Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Lucia, and the Grenadines. The Eastern Caribbean dollar can be exchanged to cents.

One XCD equals 100 cents. The currency was introduced in 1965, taking the place of the outdated West Indies dollar. The Eastern Caribbean dollar has changed its look quite a lot. There were monarchs, outstanding politicians, cultural and art figures. In 2019, there were presented new notes made out of a polymer base. They were made in a vertical format.

The Ghanaian cedi (sign GH₵, code GHS) is the currency used in circulation in Ghana. The currency is not used outside the country. The Ghanaian cedi uses pesewa as change.

One cedi equals 100 pesewas. In 1965, the cedi became the sole currency in the country. Before that, Ghana had changed its currency several times. Since the country was a British colony, its territory allowed pounds sterling and later on, it was replaced with the West African pound. Afterwards, the Ghanaian pound took its place. All notes, except 50 cedi, depict portraits of the state’s politicians. The 50-cedi banknote portrays the cocoa fruit.
