Since the country was a British colony, its territory allowed pounds sterling and later on, it was replaced with the West African pound. Afterwards, the Ghanaian pound took its place. All notes, except 50 cedi, depict portraits of the state’s politicians. The 50-cedi banknote portrays the cocoa fruit.
