Qatari Rial to Afghan afghani

The Qatari riyal (sign QR, code QAR) is the official currency issued and accepted within the emirate-state of Qatar. The Qatari riyal is subdivided into dirhams. Every QAR has 100 dirhams.

The currency appeared in 1973 replacing the previous currency – the Qatar and Dubai riyal. This necessity to issue its own value was due to the fact that Dubai joined the United Arab Emirates. In 2017, the currency suffered from a large-scale inflation. However, the rate has stabilized itself.

Afghani (sign ؋, code AFN) is the currency of Afghanistan which is not used for payment in other countries. One afghani equals 100 pul coins. Afghani has been issued since 1926.

Originally, coins made only out of silver were used on the territory of the Islamic state. First notes were printed in 1935. The Afghan rupee had been used hand in hand with afghani until 1978. Up until 2002, there had been different types of afghani used in the country and issued by different military and political organizations: “davlati” and “dostumi”, but the new leader, Hamid Karzai, reformed the currency leaving only one type. Banknotes had architectural monuments, key industries and infrastructure depicted on them.
