Malaysian Ringgit to Indonesian Rupiah

The Malaysian ringgit (symbol: RM, codes: MYR and 458) is the official currency of Malaysia. One ringgit is subdivided into 100 sens (cents). The name of the currency is translated from Malay as "jagged.

" The banknotes depict the first head of the independent Malaysia King Tuanku Abdul Rahman. The contemporary currency replaced the Malaysian dollar, which was in use from 1967 through 1976. The Indonesian Rupiah (symbol: Rp, code: IDR, number: 360) is the official currency of Indonesia. Informally Indonesians use the word "perak" ("silver" in Indonesian) in referring to rupiah. The rupiah was first introduced in the country in 1945.

However, the modern version of the currency, the so-called new rupiah is being issued since the redenomination in 1965. The exchange was made at the rate of 1000 old rupees per new one. The rupiah formally is divided into 100 sens, but physically coins denominated less than 1 Rp are discontinued.
