Mexican Peso to Afghan afghani

The Mexican peso (symbol: $, code: MXN, number: 484 ) is the currency of Mexico. It is divided into 100 centavos. The name "peso" was first used to denote Mexican money in 1863.

During the denomination of 1993 the old pesos were exchanged for new ones at a rate of 1000:1. The currency is accepted in the country on the par with the US dollar. To avoid any confusion, the symbol of the national currency is written as an S with one vertical trait, whilst the US dollar - with two. Symbol “ $” happened to be first used to denote the peso and not the USD.

Afghani (sign ؋, code AFN) is the currency of Afghanistan which is not used for payment in other countries. One afghani equals 100 pul coins. Afghani has been issued since 1926.

Originally, coins made only out of silver were used on the territory of the Islamic state. First notes were printed in 1935. The Afghan rupee had been used hand in hand with afghani until 1978. Up until 2002, there had been different types of afghani used in the country and issued by different military and political organizations: “davlati” and “dostumi”, but the new leader, Hamid Karzai, reformed the currency leaving only one type. Banknotes had architectural monuments, key industries and infrastructure depicted on them.
