Malagasy Ariary to Afghan afghani

The Malagasy ariary (sign Ar., code MGA) is the currency of Madagascar, but is also used for payment on the territory of Mauritania. The ariary is exchanged into iriambilanja.

One MGA equals 5 iriambilanja. The Malagasy ariary has been issued since 2005. The currency officially replaced the Malagasy franc. At the moment, the notes that have been issued since 2003 are mostly in circulation. Old series are being gradually taken out of circulation and replaced by the new one.

Afghani (sign ؋, code AFN) is the currency of Afghanistan which is not used for payment in other countries. One afghani equals 100 pul coins. Afghani has been issued since 1926.

Originally, coins made only out of silver were used on the territory of the Islamic state. First notes were printed in 1935. The Afghan rupee had been used hand in hand with afghani until 1978. Up until 2002, there had been different types of afghani used in the country and issued by different military and political organizations: “davlati” and “dostumi”, but the new leader, Hamid Karzai, reformed the currency leaving only one type. Banknotes had architectural monuments, key industries and infrastructure depicted on them.
