Jordanian Dinar to Afghan afghani

The Jordanian dinar (sign JD, code JOD) is the official currency of Jordan. Piastres are used as change for the Jordanian dinar. The coins are also known as qirsh.

One JOD has 100 piastres. Formally, the qirsh is divided into fils, but the latter one is not used in circulation. The modern coins are minted out of copper, nickel and brass. The currency has been issued since 1950, replacing the outdated Palestinian pound. The Jordanian dinar is decorated with portraits of the state leaders, who were in charge of the country at different times. Kings are portrayed in traditional national clothing.

Afghani (sign ؋, code AFN) is the currency of Afghanistan which is not used for payment in other countries. One afghani equals 100 pul coins. Afghani has been issued since 1926.

Originally, coins made only out of silver were used on the territory of the Islamic state. First notes were printed in 1935. The Afghan rupee had been used hand in hand with afghani until 1978. Up until 2002, there had been different types of afghani used in the country and issued by different military and political organizations: “davlati” and “dostumi”, but the new leader, Hamid Karzai, reformed the currency leaving only one type. Banknotes had architectural monuments, key industries and infrastructure depicted on them.
