Hungarian Forint to Afghan afghani

The Hungarian forint (symbol: Ft : codes: HUF and 348) is the official currency of Hungary, introduced on the territory of the newly formed state in the post-war years. The first modern forint dates back to 1946. It is on the list of the convertible currencies of the CLS system.

Forint is divided into one hundred fillers (discontinued). The banknotes depict portraits of monarchs, historical figures, and the images of the related architectural monuments. The encoding uses the international character ƒ. Pengyo was the predecessor of the forint since 1927.

Afghani (sign ؋, code AFN) is the currency of Afghanistan which is not used for payment in other countries. One afghani equals 100 pul coins. Afghani has been issued since 1926.

Originally, coins made only out of silver were used on the territory of the Islamic state. First notes were printed in 1935. The Afghan rupee had been used hand in hand with afghani until 1978. Up until 2002, there had been different types of afghani used in the country and issued by different military and political organizations: “davlati” and “dostumi”, but the new leader, Hamid Karzai, reformed the currency leaving only one type. Banknotes had architectural monuments, key industries and infrastructure depicted on them.
