Georgian Lari to Ghanaian Cedi

The Georgian lari (sign ₾, code GEL) is a currency used exclusively in Georgia. It can be exchanged to tetri. One lari contains 100 tetri.

The currency came into circulation in 1995, replacing the Georgian coupon. Before that, the country had used the Soviet ruble. Coins have a symbol of the sun and the name of the country in two languages – Georgian and English – imprinted on them. Notes are decorated with portraits of influential figures and cultural monuments.

The Ghanaian cedi (sign GH₵, code GHS) is the currency used in circulation in Ghana. The currency is not used outside the country. The Ghanaian cedi uses pesewa as change.

One cedi equals 100 pesewas. In 1965, the cedi became the sole currency in the country. Before that, Ghana had changed its currency several times. Since the country was a British colony, its territory allowed pounds sterling and later on, it was replaced with the West African pound. Afterwards, the Ghanaian pound took its place. All notes, except 50 cedi, depict portraits of the state’s politicians. The 50-cedi banknote portrays the cocoa fruit.
