Chilean Peso to Indonesian Rupiah

The Chilean peso (sign $, code CLP) is the national currency issued and spread only in Chile. The Chilean peso can be changed into coins named centavo. Every CLP has 100 centavos.

The currency had appeared in circulation in 1817, but was later replaced with escudo. However, the Chilean peso has been issued again. Today, both currencies are used at the same time. In 2008, the state mint has issued 50 commemorative coins with a misspelling of the country’s name. Some of these coins were sold at auction. Having a face value of 50 peso, their price could go up to 20 thousand peso. This nuisance led to the fact that the head of the mint was fired.

The Indonesian Rupiah (symbol: Rp, code: IDR, number: 360) is the official currency of Indonesia. Informally Indonesians use the word "perak" ("silver" in Indonesian) in referring to rupiah. The rupiah was first introduced in the country in 1945.

However, the modern version of the currency, the so-called new rupiah is being issued since the redenomination in 1965. The exchange was made at the rate of 1000 old rupees per new one. The rupiah formally is divided into 100 sens, but physically coins denominated less than 1 Rp are discontinued. The banknotes depict national heroes, politicians, monuments, sceneries of the country, local people.
